Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, also known professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. On October 21, 2016, she released Pho, her first EP under the Dreamville Records label. It was at this point that she first gained the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first posted songs online in the year 2012. The singer released her debut album Ariography and her mixtape debut in 2013 with the mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2014, she released additional music on the internet including Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes and from Sweat It Out, on July 21 the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole asked her to join him in collaboration for Rihanna's remark. Then, later in the calendar, her songs was played around Dreamville. Her announcement to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. Backseat, a track she performed together with Cozz for the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. Her Pho EP was released on her debut album on the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act for J. Cole on his track Change in 2017, and performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. The singer also performed in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas, her labelmates. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it was also released on September 5th. Then on November 9, she released two additional singles: 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Two additional singles were also released by her on November 13 with the titles Pedigree and One. She then appeared on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track entitled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single in February 2019 to accompany her debut album with the same name. A music video was released 20 February 2019 in order in conjunction with the song. Within a week, it had over 3 million views. She was part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of 2018.
